The Marc Rossi Group in concert at the LearnQuest Indian Classical Music Conference 2006
Saturday afternoon, April 14, 2006
At the Regis College Fine Arts Center, in the Eleanor Welch Casey Theatre, 235 Wellesley Street, Weston MA, 02493.

This is a two day conference of Indian classical music, with such headliners as renown sitarist Ustad Imrat Khan, and tabla master Nayan Ghosh. It will also include jazz by the Marc Rossi Group, and a jazz-Indian fusion set featuring Marc's group plus veena player Durga Krishnan, synth/santoor player Abhijit Pohankar, and others. Marc's group will play an original jazz set, and then be joined by the Indian musicians for a set of original Indian-jazz fusion. Don't miss the very special event!

“West Meets East”
This concert features Marc’s regular quartet, plus Durga Krishnan as a guest. We will play Marc’s jazz compositions, plus some new Indian-jazz pieces especially written for this occasion.

Tuesday October 25th, 8pm

Marc’s piece The Joy of Wisdom will be performed on this concert, written for his group with added Indian musicians. This is the same group that performed the highly successful concerts with Indian vilonist Lalgudi G. J. R. and Durga Krishnan last spring and summer.

This group includes saxophonist Lance Van Lenten and bassist Bill Urmson from Marc’s regular quartet (and Marc on keyboards) plus Durga Krishnan, veena, Praveen sitaram, Mridangam, and Gauresh Shankar, Kanjira and Ghatam.

Back by popular demand!!  After the success of the April 9th concert, The Marc Rossi Group performs again with renown South Indian violinist Sri Lalgudi Krishnan, veena player Durga Krishnan, Neyveli Venkatesh, Mridangam, and now with Adidya Kalyanpur, tabla. The concert will consist of a South Indian classical set, and then a cutting-edge fusion set where Marc's group and the Lalgudis will join forces. Marc has composed pieces especially for Lalgudi and his group.

Saturday April 9th, 2005, in ROGERS CENTER FOR ARTS at MERRIMACK COLLEGE, N. ANDOVER, MA

Lalgudi Vijayalaksmi, and their accompaining musicians Neyveli Venkatesh (Mridangam) & Thirupanithura Radha Krishnan (Ghatam). The concert will consist of an Indian classical set, Marc's group playing a jazz set, and a fusion set where Marc's group and the Lalgudis will join forces. Marc has composed two pieces especially for Lalgudi and this concert.

Marc Rossi and Ben Schwendener performed their Living Geometry duo - two piano

November 30 2006. NEC jazz faculty concert, February 6 2006.

Marc and fellow Pianist Ben Schwendener will perform music from their highly acclaimed CDs  Living Geometry, and Living Geometry II.  Living Geometry is music for two pianos by Marc and Ben realized through improvisational models based on George Russell's Lydian  Chromatic Concept, Thursday June 2nd, 2005 at 8pm, Edward Pickman Hall, Longy School of Music, Cambridge, MA

 

Pianothon


Marc will be playing on the annual Pianothon at Northern Essex Community College, Haverill MA, This event brings together well known classical and jazz pianists to play mostly solo works for a broad-base audience. Other well known pianists include classical virtuoso Carmen Peralta, and jazz pianist/composer William Thomas McKinley
